Our Heritage

The victor, Harold Burgess, captured hearts and imaginations with his dramatic rendering of a construction that seamlessly merged a state-of-the-art pool with inviting spaces for swimmers to gather and relax.
Under the skilled hands of contractor W. E. Davey, Burgess’s vision materialized into reality. On the 10th of August 1911, The Decorium was officially unveiled to the community as a public swimming pool. Its grandeur quickly transformed it into a beloved hub, drawing swimmers from far and wide, turning it into a cherished community facility and a testament to the joyous spirit of the times.
